Magento to Shopify Plus: Unifying Theme Structures for Miracle Ventures’ Swimwear Brands 

The Challenge

Miracle Ventures, the parent company of popular swimwear brands Vitamin A, Miraclesuit, and Venus Swim, needed to migrate from their existing Magento platform to a more agile and scalable solution. They required a streamlined ecommerce infrastructure that could support their multiple unique brand identities while reducing operational complexities. Command C stepped in to migrate three separate Magento instances into two cohesive Shopify Plus stores, leveraging the platform’s robust capabilities and integration options.

Our Plan

To achieve these goals, we followed a phased development approach, focusing on integration, theme customization, and data migration.

Strategic Technical Roadmap: We began with a thorough Strategic Technical Roadmap  to understand Miracle Ventures’ requirements and map out a strategy for data migration, SEO optimization, and theme customization. This included finalizing product data structures, reviewing SEO practices, and determining the best payment gateway options. Our goal was to ensure that all critical aspects were covered before development began.

Theme Customization: Using a pre-existing theme as a foundation, we customized the Shopify Plus stores to reflect the distinct brand identities  (now including two new brands, Mimi Flamingo and Aeston West for a total of five that Command C supports). We maintained consistent design elements while allowing for brand-specific modifications such as color schemes, logos, and unique content sections. This approach provided a unified brand experience across the stores while respecting each brand’s unique identity.

Data Migration: Migrating from Magento to Shopify Plus involved moving extensive product data, customer information, and order history. Our team worked closely with Miracle Ventures to ensure all data was accurately transferred and that the new stores were ready to go live without losing any historical data or functionality.

ERP Integration with Celigo: While the Miracle Ventures team managed the integration between Netsuite and Shopify using Celigo, we provided consultative support to ensure the integration aligned with the new Shopify architecture. This setup enabled real-time synchronization of product inventory and order data, reducing manual intervention and improving operational efficiency.

Advanced Features and Functionalities: To enhance the user experience, we implemented several custom features, including:

  • Back-in-Stock Notifications: Integrated with Listrak to notify customers when out-of-stock products became available.
  • Product Filters and Search: Leveraged advanced filtering and search capabilities to improve product discoverability and customer navigation.
  • Custom Wishlist Integration: Enabled customers to save and share their favorite products across the stores.
  • Custom Sections and Blocks: Acting as extensions to the theme, new sections and blocks are built to the merchant specification and take full advantage of Miracle’s unique customer appeal.

SEO and Performance Optimization: We ensured that best practices for SEO were followed during the migration, including 301 redirects, schema markup, and maintaining the existing URL structure where possible. This approach helped preserve search rankings and organic traffic, ensuring a smooth transition with minimal SEO impact.
